As part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, PPB conducts several food aid programmes for needy families, welfare homes, and communities. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the Group has collaborated with many reputable organisations and food banks on initiatives aimed at alleviating hunger and providing essential support.
Targeted Support for Students
Launched in 2025, the joint food aid initiative by PPB and FFM, known as “Kehadiran Cemerlang, Kesihatan Optimum,” has been well-received by participating schools. The programme currently involves schools in the Klang Valley, particularly the Orang Asli schools. Over 600 students from the B40 and Orang Asli communities receive a monthly food basket valued more than RM100 each. A key feature of the initiative is its emphasis on school attendance. To remain eligible for the subsequent month’s basket, students must maintain an attendance rate of at least 80%. By directly addressing both food insecurity and school absenteeism, this initiative seeks to improve students’ health, academic performance and overall quality of life.
Employee Engagement in Community Service
Beyond supplying food, PPB encourages direct employee engagement with the community. Since 2022, in partnership with the Food Aid Foundation, PPB has organised “Cooking for a Cause” sessions, giving employees the opportunity to prepare and distribute hot meals directly to residents, many of whom are elderly. Through this hands-on volunteering, employees make meaningfully contributions while strengthening their sense of purpose and connection to the community.
