Launched in 2021, the “Support Lokal Entertainers” CSR initiative by PPB Group Berhad assisted Malaysian entertainers whose livelihoods were severely impacted by the pandemic and Movement Control Order (MCO) restrictions. The initiative provided local artists with performance platforms and sustainable income opportunities.
The programme began with three key events in 2021: a livestreamed Lion Dance performance on Chap Goh Mei, a special Malaysia Day rendition of “Hero” by four Malaysian vocalists in tribute to frontliners, and a collaborative series with Musicians for Musicians and My Buskers Club, featuring performances at GSC locations nationwide; Cheras LeisureMall and The Linc, both shopping centres located in Kuala Lumpur; and New World Park in Penang.
From 2022 to 2025, PPB continued its collaboration with GSC to host regular weekend performances at venues such as JIN Gastrobar in Aurum Theatre, The Gardens Mall KL, and Velvet Cinemas in Sunway 163 Mall. Each week featured a fresh lineup of talent, giving numerous artists the chance to perform and gain visibility through GSC’s promotional channels.
This CSR initiative not only offers performers immediate opportunities but has also helped many secure further engagements, reinforcing PPB Group’s commitment to fostering a sustainable future for local artistic talent.
